If you are considering the Raised Ultimate Connection, we suggest reviewing the following information:
Typically the Raised Ultimate Connection (3217) is only recommended for newer models of trucks (2020 and newer). Use on 2019 or older models of trucks may add unnecessary leverage on the truck bed and excessive height.
If your truck bed rails are at least 21-1/2” tall, then the Raised Ultimate Connection should provide the necessary clearance.
Make sure your 5th wheel trailer will be level when hooked up to the Raised Ultimate Connection. Along with the height of your truck and trailer set up, you will need to take into account the height of the Ultimate Connection, so that your 5th wheel trailer is level. If not, then you could be putting unnecessary stress on the back axles of your 5th wheel.
Measure for proper turning and tailgate clearance, by completing the following measurements on pages 4 and 5 of the Ultimate Connection Installation Manual. If you will have sufficient clearance with the standard Ultimate Connection (Part #: 3220), then we recommend using the 3220 instead of the 3217.
